To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
Becoming PADI Certified is a two-step process that requires academic training and scuba (in-water) training:
Part 1: Academics
Cost $190.00 PADI's online training program is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online or at our shop with classroom style training, when you sign up for your online training through our shop or website, we will deduct the cost of this online course from the total package price of $460.

Part 2: Scuba Training
Cost: $275.00 (in addition to academic training cost) Prices include pool training as well as 4 certification dives in open water during regular training dates as per the schedule. Compressed training, private training, or training dates outside of normal schedule will be at an additional cost (click below for more details.
Open Water Referral: complete your academic training plus pool training and then finish your open water certification in another location while on vacation (must be a PADI dive resort)- normal academic rates apply plus add $150 for the pool training per person.
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. The equipment you will need to provide is your personal gear which is a mask, fins, snorkel, and boots.
When you're fitted with your scuba equipment you can begin your pool training. Your instructor will put into practice the techniques you learned in the academics program. Your training dives will be logged and approved by your instructor before you move on to open water. Pool training will consist of 3-5 training dives at the Boys and Girls club in Lufkin during the weekday evenings 6-8 pm. We offer weekly flexible scheduling- classes start every week
Open Water Training
Get ready to experience everything you've learned with the freedom of open water. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be a certified diver. PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless. Open Water checkout dives are conducted at the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville, Texas on a Saturday/Sunday- 2 each day for a total of 4 dives. We are at the Blue Lagoon every other weekend throughout the summer- do your checkout dives any time we are there
